What we saw
4 patterns across 40 pages
- The mission is the headline
- Many open with one sentence about what the company exists to do, not the words "About us". Anthropic, Wealthsimple, Oura and Plaid all lead with a mission line. Examples: Anthropic, Wealthsimple, Oura, Plaid, Brex.
- Real people, not stock photos
- Team photos and portraits make the company concrete: a group shot, partner portraits, or a row of faces. Examples: Liveblocks, Pentagram, ClickUp, Noom, beehiiv.
- Origin stories with checkable facts
- The strongest stories give a year and a reason. PlanetScale names its founding year and the open-source project behind it; Ghost says when it was founded and that it is a non-profit. Examples: PlanetScale, Ghost, Function Health.

Before you build
A checklist for your about page
- Lead with what you believe or do in one sentence.
- Add proof a reader can check: founding year, customers, investors or numbers.
- Show real people with names and roles.
- Link to careers and contact; an about page is often the step before either.
- Make the first screen say who you are without scrolling.
About us page examples — FAQ
What should an about us page include?
A one-line statement of what the company does or believes, a short origin story with facts people can check, the people behind it, and links onward to careers, customers or contact.
How do I start an about page?
Skip "About us" as the headline. Most examples here open with a mission line or a claim, such as Anthropic's "Making AI systems you can rely on", and put the company name in the eyebrow instead.
What is the difference between an about page and a team page?
An about page explains why the company exists and what it stands for; a team page lists the people. Many companies combine them by adding portraits or a group photo to the about page, as Pentagram and Liveblocks do.
